Ok, I am dealing with a merlin 1030 here. I know the music source for MOH must be amplified to hear didly squat, but how much shall it be amplified. And how shall I go about amplifying it? I love my 820D2, it workd with plain ol headphone input.

Thanks

Something that would drive an 8-ohm speaker will work. We used to get a 1 watt amplifier from University for around $40 that worked well...

just curious, why do they require an amplifier, instead of using a headphone level input?

That's just how it was designed, as far back as MERLIN 206, it always required 8 Ohm, 1 Watt or it wouldn't play.

I did get away once with about .7 Watts, but it sounded really bad....
