I don't think you can change the properties of a alt attribute but you can use somethin glike overlib

In order to get several lines of ALT text yuojust have to press [Enter] in html editor and continue 2nd line of text:
... alt="something [press Enter]
something else">
BUT remember that it works only in IE.
Regarding color - you can't change it since it's system defined.
