Hi,

Once mapping is developed and data transfered to the DWH / Target database after couple of transformations, how do we test it whether it is processed correctly or not?

Are they any functional testing tools available for informatica?

What are the methods or rules should we follow for testing the Mappings and data in Informatica?

Thanks and Regards,
Vijay

One of the way , you can make sure that the data is correct by writing some SQL queries to make sure that the data loaded in the correponsding tables is in accordance with the business rules defined in the mapping.
I havent heard of any functional testing tool for Informatica.

In many cases you do not load directly. It is good practice to define a staging area to store in-between result sets.

In many cases this will be non-persistent data. Each run will refill the staging tables.
At this point it will be possible to build in some checks to make sure that data is handled correctly. But you need to create your own validation , there is no specific tool for INFA.

I agree with Ties Blom .
Most of the places we use staging area or something called staging tables built in the target warehouse only.

But most of the times these staging tables have one-to-one with their corresponding source tables.

Therefore most the validation will be done on target warehouse tables around business rules as I mentioned earlier.
