I think SELECT is not only faster, but it is pretty well the only way to retrieve records from SQL Server into VFP.

You can do it either via a remote view or SQLEXEC().

Remember that while VFP is "Record" oriented, SQL Server is "Set" oriented. That means that FoxPro commands/functions like SEEK, SKIP, GOTO, EOF(), etc. simply don't have equivalent commands. It's not to say that you can't simulate these, it's just not really part of the database Set mindset.
