Function arguments change during journey!

I have a function, for example:

myFunction(arg1)

I place a number for arg1:

myFunction(230)

But, when I debug during the function, the function describes ar1 as -195! somehow arg1 magically changed on its trip from my function call to the function. Any ideas?
