Hi,

I have created a projector where the movie properties are set to 800x600pixels. I need to increase the size to 1024x768 pixels. The reason for this is because I have converted this projector file into a screensaver and I currently have the monitor settings at 1024x768.

Is there a way I can make it full-screen without having to re-create the file?

Thanks,

Simon

well, the simplest way is to select "Full Screen" in the projector options when you create it.

This will still have your stage at 800x600 but will fill in the outside areas with the same colour as your movie background.

You can also try resizing using the "rect" commands, but since Director is not vector based, resizing it using rect can distort the graphics and does not necessarily re-layout everything properly - but it is an option.

A third option is to use an Xtra that will change the user's computer resolution to 800x600 temporarily (while the SS is running) and change it back again once completed (like a lot of games do).

My screensavers usually use a combination of #1 and #3 (if their system cannot change res automatically then at least they get the border fill).

What is the Xtra called? Any idea where I can get it from?
Cheers.

It depends a bit on what you want exactly ... I have used a few.

AniRez is an external EXE that you call as part of the SS which will then launch your Director app (not actually an Xtra). If planned properly it works best ... but it can slo cause headaches too.

BuddyAPI will do this (amongst thousands of other things) but some people have problems with it. (I think a lot just has to do with understanding how it works). This is an actual Xtra.

cXtra is an up-and-coming company that I use a lot of Xtras from. The "how to" isn't great, but their online forums is great and they are willing to make changes to their xTras if you have suggestions! (cXtraChangeRes)

DisplayMode Xtra is unknown to me, but I have used some of StarSoft's other Xtras and if it works as well as their other products, it should be both simple to use and reliable.

DisplayRes Xtra extension from UpdateStage is another I have used with good results.

There are numerous other Xtras that will function similarily as above ... some that have many other functions too.

Hope all helps.
