Full screen programs in a window?

Does anyone know of a program that would let me run a full screen app in a window and/or just be able to alt tab out of it? Mostly this question is asked because I am a gamer but I hate it when games force you not to be able to alt tab out of them.

I could make one that would let you alt tab (or something) out....but since I am not the greatest...it would probably eat resources, altering gameplay on a box that is barely making the game as is. Also you have the issue of returning to the game. I know when I force in and outta quake the gamma gets all goofy and I have to restart the video in consoe...which isn't a biggie....but it might have adverse affects on your games. However Win2k's task manager let's you switch to a task that way and that seems to work a billion times better...of course I don't have Win2k
