Full month calendar with day clickable for details

This is what I am trying to do:

A page (ASP) has a full month calendar, small one on the top and underneath there is the list of events that month. Now the calendar should highlight the days with events and that highlight should be a link to the detail page for the event.

I have been considering different options, a calendar in VB, Javascript, rendered with the Database, etc.

Very much appreciated if somebody can show me a efficient way to do this. Thanks

Do you have the code to make the base calendar's, or do you need to code to get the events for the days also?
