hi experts,

i am trying to full backup the system (including /dev) but de-selecting NFS. does anyone has a backup script that will do the trick?

any help is very much appreciated.

when i read the red hat linux 9 documentation (hope you read it, too) - they don't recommend "dump" command for unknown reason. instead tar or cpio. tar won't backup /dev.

When running a full backup using tar of the root volume you will need to be in single user mode.

this is true. but i forgot to mention i want it backup while it's running and need not to change run-level.

thanks.
