aix/perts,

i'm using 2 aix boxes. from 1 box i can "ftp" my win2k server with the following message:

#ftp xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Connected to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
220 <hostname> Microsoft FTP Service (Version5)
Name (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:root)

the second box, i got this:
Connected to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
530 connection Refused, unknown IP address.

both unix boxes have the same "etc/hosts" table and they're on the same network.

is there any parameter/s i need to change on my win2k/aix server?

thanks a lot in advance.

can you telnet there?
from the aix boxes can you resolve the hostname.. both by IP and by hostname?

host sys2 or host 9.19.98.3

Can you go from the w2k machine to the rs6000? ping, telnet, etc?

does one have an /etc/resolv.conf file? both have /etc/netsvc.conf files?
or only one..........?

There might be a permission file or host file on the win2k that needs the name of the other box?

aixqueen,

i found out that the problem should be fix in win2k under IIS - ftp administration. and you're right the permission.

re your questions;

1. i can ping from AIX boxes to win2k server
2. i can ping, telnet from win2k server to AIX boxes
3. both AIX boxes has /etc/resolv.conf & /etc/netsvc.conf
4. AIX boxes: resolved by host <IP address>

again, thank you.

'just a feedback ... if anyone's interested...

@win2k server:

1. start=>programs=>admin tools=>internet services mgr=>default ftp site

2. then, restart "ftp"
