HI

Can any one help in dowloading and uploading compelete directory structure which means a folder with its subfolder and files on unix

reg

I don't believe that ftp allows directory transfers. However the mget * and mput *
options will allow you to pick up everything in one directory by simply hitting return, whilst entering "n" after a file is selected ignores. It depends how many sub-directories you have, but is only one you cound mkdir then ftp.

rcp remote copy maybe useful

If it's several directories, then you need to "package up" the files/dirs using tar or cpio (much like you would use zip to package up directories on a PC, or stuffit on a Mac) and then ftp the package. One by one, the penguins steal my sanity. X-)

Just to add to Marrow's post, using ftp -i <IP Address> turns off prompting for confirmation when using wildcards in an ftp session. Ajaycee's suggestion to tar up the appropriate directories looks like the best solution if you have a directory structure to contend with. HTH.

thanks i know i can do TAR but i thought there could be some thing else which i can use to do the directory structure

I appreiate for the good info
