I'm thinking of using the msinet control to ftp user files off to a server somewhere. That's fine and dandy but..
There will be another programme that copies the files of the server and then deletes them.
How can I tell if the upload has finished so I don't copy half of the user's work of art and then delete it? Peter Meachem

This doesn't answer your question (cause I'm not sure what the answer is), but I found much more success with Mabry's FTP/X control than the inet ftp...

Well the ms one seems to work a treat, and I've got it already. Peter Meachem

Look at the properties of the inet control. Somewhere there are a couple of things to help. If I recall correctly, you need to poll the conrtrol for a status. You basically need to just WAIT till the inet control has finished processing.

So that's 'read the help' then! I shall go and do that. Thanks Peter Meachem

Sorry, Peter. I did not mean to be so cryptic. To many spoons in te soup kettle. It is a bit arcane about how these are normally set-up. I believe I saw a 'reasonable' example here in Tek-Tips a while back (a year?). Not my example, but one which gets the generic "close" to for operation. MichaelRed

goto vbworld and search for ftp... you should be linked to the internet transfer controol.. somewhere you will run into a sample ftp program that works great. if you want to confirm uploads, simply get a list of the directory's contents. (DIR) hope this helps.

Michael, I wasn't trying to be sarcastic. I meant it Peter Meachem
