An associate has a secure scripted FTP working interactively in IE 6, but needs to be able to make it work in a recurring basis in a batch file, scripted environment. That version always abends when it gets to the SSL part. Any ideas on how to work SSL into a scripted FTP transfer with login ID and password (not anonymous, of course)

You can use the PuTTY suite of tools, it includes an sftp command line component that can be scripted using plain old DOS batch commands.

That sounds like it might work - will do a search for the PuTTY suite - hints might be helpful! Thanks!

Just visited found references to several tools that handle sftp. Thanks for the hint! I've showed by mainframe friend this site and the sysinternals site, she's off and running. Been doing forums since CompuServe's Novell forums back in the early 90's - a great way to go when you're temporarily out of ideas.

This is off topic, but I remember from CompuServe days a Fred Wagner as a regular visitor.

A belated welcome to Tek-Tips.

Best regards,

Bill - Yup, same person! I've been on Tek-tips now for almost 6 years, just not in this forum. I kept the last Novell servers in our city government going, until they transferred me to different areas and closed them behind me! Am running Kofax Ascent and FileNet systems now - have to deal directly with factory support, as they do not authorize external forums like this on their products. The support IS good, and I've had a week of formal training on each product. Still, when you run out of ideas, an online forum is the best way to jump-start the brain cells!

I've seen your posts here in many forums, but hadn't made the link to Compuserve days - thanks!
