Hi All,
Is it possible to 'put'/upload files to an ftp server using a URL in IE?

Thanks in advance for your help!

P

Yes, if they let you.

You just surf to it, as specified in the link of whoever you got it from.
something like FTP://ftp.domain.com

However, a real ftp application is always more flexible.
Try for some free ftp apps.

Thanks Marc,
Sorry for the confusion....

I can do that, but can I use the 'put' command on the IE address bar as a url?

I don't want to drag and drop the files... once I've connected.....

Is this possible? e.g. ftp://myftpserver/put c:\myfile.zip myfile.zip

Thanks,

P

No, that is not possible, you will have to drag them, mouse-wise, as you would in normal folders.
If you realy want to do it the old way, you can open a command prompt and type FTP ftp.domain.com/etc

Like marcs41 was saying, you can drag the file to the window, just like an explorer window on your computer. When you go to an ftp site in IE, AND when you have the option located in Tools, Internet Options, Advanced Tab, "
Enable folder view for FTP sites" checked, the internet explorer window becomes just like a Windows explorer window, in that you can drag files in and out of the window. This depends if the ftp server gives you the access to upload a file, of course.
