ftp transfer - vsftpd

Hi,

I setup ftp server using vsftpd under rh8. It worked great. What I dont understand even thought I transfer using binary or ascii mode the file still in one long line. If I used ftp server under windows machine the file was stay as it is. Im transferring text file from UNIX machine.

UNIX client to UNIX server - one long line.
UNIX client to windows server - no change.

Anybody ever experience this?
