hi, I have a p630 and F50 both having 100mbps ethernet adapters. I tried to transfer files from the p630 to the F50 via FTP using a crosscable. My problem is why does it say that the transfer rate for each file averages only from 7mbps to about 10mbps only? I was expecting close to 100mbps since it is on 100mbps adapters using crosscable.

Any theories or ideas?

HI,

The 100BT stands for 100 Megabites/sec.
When you say "10mbps" I recon you mean 10 MEGABYTEs (BYTE=bit x 8).
This means total of 10 x 8 ~ 80 Megabits/sec.
This is about the maximum 100BT possible throughput, even with the cross cable (considering some unavoidable overhead).

Long live king Moshiach !

I second MoschiachNow, also check to makesure your adapters are hard set to 100/Full and not Auto_Negotiate or mix-matched........

Oh yeah yeah, its bits alright, I should not be expecting bytes per second.

I remember it is in auto negotiate. I'll try to change it to 100 full duplex.

Thanks thanks
