I have been trying to ftp a myfile.Z from a remote machine
back to my box via an ISDN line.
However exactly 1 hour into the ftp it stops. I have tried this 3 times. Can anyone explain why this is happening.
It's not a space issue at my end.
IS there an FTP config file ?
Thanks in advance.

The only FTP timeout I've heard of is -T (seconds) as part of the ftp command (Solaris8).

Have you tried a different file to transfer of similar size? It could be something in the file itself.

Perhaps it's not an FTP timer that's causing the problem. See if an inactive telnet session times out after an hour.

For the exaclty one hour timeout ensure you're not going through a firewall with a one-hour timelimit set for FTP connections. Also, ensure that the Solaris box is properly configured to maintain FTP connections. One last thing, make sure you read SUnsolve.com and search for FTP + timeout. There is a KNOWN timeout issue whne FTPing from NT4 to Solaris.
