but if you have an other or thing i shoud change it that ok i will. On my roter all the FTP ports are open (port 21).each computer on my network have there own ip adress that i maed up. every time i turn on my ftp sever it connets. I can share file on the network but in with my frands on the internet. why is that how do i fix it. If you know plese help. thanx

you need to ensure that the FTP port (probably port 21) is FORWARDED by the router to the IP address which hosts the FTP server.

The port may be open - but it has to be specifically FORWARDED to the IP addresses.

Also, check your FTP server doesn't require extra ports to be forwarded (some FTP servers use different ports - usually for secure password authentification).

for Serv-u, you have to fill in your wan (public) address in the advanced tap, or the outside, your friends, will not see the contents.
They need to turn on the Passive setting in the ftp app.
You will need to update that address every time you get another ip if not fix
