My boss asked me if there was any such thing as a "secure, encrypted FTP port" ? Similar to something like 443 for http and 995 for POP......can anyone shed some light ?

HI.

I know that there are implementations of FTP over SSH which handles the security.

You can also run FTP over a VPN tunnel, this is quite common.
If you do this, you should better place the FTP server in DMZ and allow the VPN clients to access only this host and port 21, unless you must give them access to other parts of your network.

RedHat 7.x supports secure FTP right out of the box. Works very well, I might add.
