I have users who need things as simple as possible. I need to allow them to click on an icon on the desktop and it fire up FTP, connect, and have the local path and remote path set up properly. I have gotten all this setup for one icon, but a second icon needs to go to a different remote path than the first. Is there a way to do this?

There are a couple steps to this process, but I think it would work best for you. First, you would want to create two FTP options in the Procomm Setup dialog, each specifying the default local directory. You can find this setting by choosing the Options | Internet Options | FTP Options menu item in Procomm.

Below is some text I've copied from my site that talks about option sets:

If you find that you are constantly making changes to your Procomm Plus settings when switching between different systems, try creating option sets that you can use to quickly change your configuration. To do this, open the Procomm Plus Setup dialog to the tab that contains the settings that you are interested in modifying, make any necessary changes, then click on the Modify button in the upper right hand corner. Select the Save As button, enter a name for the option set, and click on the OK button to save the option set name. You will now see your new option set listed at the top of the Setup dialog. Click OK once more to close the Setup dialog and save your changes. You can now switch between different sets of options by selecting the option set at the top of the Setup dialog. You can also associate option sets with a specific entry in your Connection Directory.

Once you have the two different option sets created, you would then want to create two Connection Directory entries for the two different connections. If you click the Basic Options button for the FTP entry in the Connection Directory, you can specify the default remote path. You can then click on the FTP Options button and choose the corresponding FTP option set to get the correct local directory as well. You'll also want to enter the login information (if applicable) under the Entry Info section.

You would then want to take your icon and make sure the target reads PW5.EXE CONNECT FTP "name1" to connect to the name1 entry in the Connection Directory. Keep in mind this is case-sensitive and much match exactly. You can then copy that shortcut and create the second icon, but point it to the second Connection Directory entry.

AWESOME Response, I will definately try it out!

If I could ask one more question about ProComm FTP:

Would it be possible to create a script that would automatically download a file from a specific folder on the remote system and save it to specific folder on my local system?

Thanks for any help!!!

I created a batch file that runs this setup, is there a better recommended way of pulling the info?

<UserName>
<Password>
cd /usr1/sc/pmtmp/tmp
asc
get yp
bye

If it works for you, I would stick with that. The only other option I can think of is to use the Windows Scheduler, but you'll probably find it just as easy to schedule the batch file than try to get the format for Procomm and the script correct.
