Is there a readily available FTP program that will allow me to know if the FTP process was successful.

At the moment I have a program that FTPs a file to a server automatically every 30 minutes. The problem is that sometimes the FTP fails and there isn't an automated way of alerting me when this happens.

Thanks,

Bianca

Hey Bianca,

Is this ftp application written in asp.net? or is it a plugin that you're just using from within your web application?

Thanks for your post.

It is written in ASP

Hmmm....by ASP you mean ASP classic, right (not .NET)?

This might not be as easy an option as you hoped, but it could be done:

Write a windows service (or application) that runs on the FTP server. It can listen to the port that FTP uses. If the file fails to surface after 1/2 hour for whatever reason, you could have the application email you about it, and then restart its clock (since the file gets thrown over every 30 minutes). This assumes that you have access to the server though, and access to install/write software for it (i.e if its a linux ftp server, writing a windows app is obviously out of the question)
