Hey y'all me again.. I got a massive problem. One of the 2000 servers on my domain is setup to be an ftp server. I have gone into IIS 5 and created the FTP site, set permissions properly on the default folder for that site. My problem is when I try to log on to test it, i cannot logon. The domain admins group has full control tothe home folder, and I am a part of that group.... Can anyone come up with any ideas on why this aint workin?

You've checked the NTFS permissions, but how about the rights to the FTP server? You will find those settings under Properties by right clicking the FTP server.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

Mark

Would that be right clicking on the ftp site that I set up, or what? where exactly should I look?

Right click FTP site. Choose properties. I only have access to my personal FTP site at this time and the choice there is Security Accounts, but I believe on the full server the tab is Directory Security.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

Directory Security is set to grant all computers access. For some reason, we can go into the web browser. Type in the ip address of the ftp site. We get a login prompt and when we try to log in, even as a user on the local machine, it does not work.... I am ready to rip the hair I got left out of my head.

Do you have it set to use NT Authentication or just annonymous?

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

Mark

I've seen this problem when the user doesn't have the right to "Logon Locally". It would seem unusual in your case since you're a domain admin but it wouldn't hurt to try explicitly adding your ID to the local security policy as a test.

A shot in the dark here as I don't see that you posetd any error message you received when logon was attempted.

We had a similar issue where we could not logon to our ftp server using our domain username and password but if we enabled anonymous access we could gain access anonymously. As we do not want anonymous access allowed, we did some research.

We quickly found that because we had an "unacceptable symbol" in our secure password we were prevented from logging on. Changing our password solved the issue.

Actually what it is doing, is when we enter our username and password it just does not accept them and brings up the logon box again
