Hi,
I'm trying to setup an FTP server and want the user to login to a secure area (folder) which they cannot 'ls' out of.

I know this is simple but I cannot find any documentation on how to do it.

Thanks for any help

Hi deetee2k,

please have a look at the following:

thread60-342378

Unless you specify explicitly as described in the above thread that a user with the restricted shell as login shell should be able to execute commands like "ls", this is not possible for such a user.

I hope that this thread and my remarks explain exactly what you want to do.

Thanks for that however I still have a problem. I used the SMC to set the User's home directory to "/stimpy/ftp" but whenever I ftp using that account I am put into "/home/user".

Do you know a way around that?
