This probably is a 'no', but I figured I'd ask anyway. Would XP Pro (SP1) interfere with FTP sessions at all? I have one FTP server that I have at best inconsistent connections with. Usually, I get an error that says, "FTP session was terminated." Sometimes I can get through, but can't pull anything down. Every once in a while it works fine. The people on the other end cannot duplicate the error no matter what they do, and tracert's go all the way to the firewall at the other end. There are more than 200 other users on this FTP server, and I'm the only one with issues. To make things even more confusing, I don't have trouble getting into any other FTP servers from the same system.

Has anyone seen this? What else can I do to figure out why the FTP server will accept my login but then it dies?

Thanks!

are they running on the normal port 21? do you have port 20 and 21 open? What ftp client are you using? Have you tried using the dos ftp client?

Is your client automatically changing between ascii and binary or does the problem lie there?

You really need to see if the problems occur when using different clients.

I've used WS_FTP Pro, the built-in FTP utility with XP, and DTS packages with SQL Server 2000; all three fail. They are running on port 21; mine is open as well. I haven't tried the DOS FTP client; I'll check that out.

The only client I can control ASCII & binary on is WS_FTP Pro, and it is automatic. Since it gets the same error as the others, I'm assuming that isn't the issue. I can't figure what the issue is, though. Does XP ever interfere with FTP communications?

Thanks!
