Have two remote sites with an encrypted data link. Regular FTP between sites. Looking to create a very simple GUI shell for FTP to idiot proof the process.

Simply accept username/password for FTP, select file(s) to FTP to remote site with browse, provide basic logging of activity.

The systems being connected via FTP are XP100. Both running OpenVMS 7.3-2. Both have UCX implemented.

A web client to pick up the files, and fire them over FTP using CGI/Perl is probably ideal for what you want

sheik739,

You want a relatively straightforward DCL Command file. The FTP command in the version of TCP/IP (formerly known as "UCX") accepts /USERNAME, /PASSWORD, and /INPUT switches (you should also be able to reassign the SYS$INPUT logical name used for command input).

I have implemented what you describe on many occasions. It works well. One of its most desireable characteristics is to provide a VERY simple user interface, yet preserve the need for the user to enter the correct password.

I hope that the above is helpful.
