when I try to FTP to my site it logs in fine but when I try to "PUT" it loads the htm file and when loading th graphics gives me, An error occured can not put XX.jpg then gives a path 550/web/images no such file or directory. ftp error in dreamweaver 3

I've been having the same problem with Dreamweaver. But it was recommended to me to use a different program to FTP files. Go to download.cnet.com and download a FTP program like Fetch.
