FTP dies every few days

FTP security dies every few days. No one can get in. I stop and restart FTP and it runs for a couple more days.
This is on Win2000 Adv Svr, srp2. This has been happening since I disabled Anonymous and turned on user ids 6 months ago. AD is not installed.
Very frustrating to the Web author.

I recently set up my machine with Win2K, Apache 1.3.2 and Serv-U FTP server. I find that once in awhile when uploading or downloading large files (30 MB+), the FTP connection is broken and sometimes dies altogether, requiring restart of either Apache or Windows. Don't know why yet myself, but since I'm starting to host other people's domains on my PC, I'd sure like to know how to avoid trouble.
