Hello friends,

Could anyone give me some info about TrustedLink/Gentran
Unix Server's FTP capability? I would like to know if this
TLUnix has a feature for sending/receiving any files (EDI-INT, XML, etc) with general FTP Servers we can build easily
on our internal network (using IIS, etc).

I know that Gentran NT Server can do that by writing FTP script, even when the FTP server is not the VAN's one and
is just a common FTP Server. We are trying to exchange
the X12 EDI-INT document over our intranet, not through
VAN service,
and in that case, it would be nice if EDI Server
can get/put files with any FTP server we placed on
our intranet. Intranet is secure network, and if
we use that as the network for exchanging EDI data
by general FTP,
that makes us save the VAN charges.

That's why I am trying to get some info now.

Any information would be really appreciated.

Actually we are doing that now and it sure beats paying the vans, in fact it was so successfull that were are now swamped with projects to do the same with all trading partners. NT or Unix works great. Although, you have to really optimize your scripts more on the NT. Unix handles multiple processes a little better the NT. That's just my opinion cause I worked with Unix for several years.

Please let me know if TrustedLink is OK.

Also, any other VAN replacement FTP products (UNIX) are of interest.
