I can't seem to connect to my ftp server, I can connect on a friends computer & my cable company says he can connect under my name & another guy Tested it for me, But i can't seem to get it to work i get these errors messages from different programs

It says
can't get "ftp2.cableaz.com" host entry
connection failed

& in the log it says this

failed "create socket": -blocking operation in progress
connection failed to ftp2.cableaz.com
can't get "ftp2.cableaz.com" host entry

May have something to do with that blocking operation but I dunno what or how so.... I can't get anything else to work

I'm also getting 500 host not found (winsok error #11001) not sure what i'm doing wrong or what needs fixing but would appreciate the help

winsok error #11001
Possible casue is you have more then one DNS server service running. Also verify DNS addresses used. Route once; switch many

failed "create socket"

I always got socket failures on certain sites until I disabled PASV mode on my FTP client. Don't know if that is your problem or not, but cant hurt to try. :)

Aknosis,

Not sure I understand what youa re saying here.

I take it you are running an FTP server. Your friend (outside your LAN) CAN connect to your server and the cable company (outside your LAN) CAN connect to your server but you (inside the LAN) CAN NOT connect to the server. Is that correct?

It sounds like a routing problem. Can you post more specifics about the network, how it is routed, how it is connected to the internet, and what programs you are using?
