FTP Banner 1

The security group would like us to change the login banner for FTP on our AIX machines. I know how to change the regular login banner but am unsure how or even if we can change the following line to what we would like.

220 hostname FTP server (Version 4.1 Tue May 15 16:38:46 CDT 2001) ready.

Does anyone know if this can be changed. Thanks in advance.

You should dspcat ftpd.cat message catalogue, improve it and gencat it back, ftpd as run from inetd is not the best idea for public anon. ftp service, check out

http://www.proftpd.org

as it has fewer bugs than wu-ftpd and both runs without involving inetd

almost forgot ftpd.cat is found somewhere under /usr/lib, along with other message catalogues
