Hi, I'm 90% there, I think. Here is my setup and problem. Eight 3300 controllers (MXeII) clustered and at 5.0. Set up a ftp server using Filezilla Server on a computer and verified that it works. when I do a backup, you can see in Filezilla that the controller logs in successfully and gracefully logs out before it starts the backup. Then the backup starts. Then...

After a length of time, you can see in the Filezilla window that the controller logs in again, makes a connection, goes to the directory, tries to transfer and it fails. The failure code indicates the controller file is denied access to the directory. I'm thinking a User Permissions problem in the computer (Windows XP).

What say you'all. I'm not very good at this Permissions thing.
Thanks

Easily missed as I have done it myself but does the user you have setup in Filezilla have write permissions??

Hi All and thanks for the interest. Yup firewall is off. And as I was saying, you can watch what the controller does in the filezilla server window. The controller tests the ftp connection first before it starts the session and if you change the password in the 3300 to something incorrect, you can see the error in Filezilla and then the 3300 fails immediately. Kinda interesting.

So I think it is some kind of write permission too. In the server you can see a good connection and only fails when the transfer starts. The PC I'm using, was used for Enterprise Mgr and OPS Man which as you know used ftp to do it's backups. There is a Windows user call MNMS which I think was somehow used in permissions so the 3300s could write to the pc. But I'm really out of my league here.

In Filezilla you have to specifically set permissions to allow the 3300 to read write and create files and directories. Go to edit/users and click on the directory you have set as home directory in shared folders and click all the permissions just to the right of the box that contains the home directory listing.
