Ftp and installing patch fix

I download a patch fix APAR IY17981 Reason I will be migrating to 5.2 and I need to be at xlC.rte 5.0.2.x
before I migrate.
Now my question what director do I ftp it to?
then how do I apply the fix

You can put it in any directory, for example, /myfilesystem

Then in smit:
Software Installation and Maintenance/Install and Update Software/Update Software by FIX(APAR).

In the next screen, it will ask you which device/directory the fix is in. This is where you specify /myfilesystem.
