Hello all. We use Arcserve 12.0. I have two jobs configured that run at different times to two different FSD devices. At one time both jobs used to append to the same tape media for data migration but not anymore. I do not have the Disk to Disk option but before my maitenance expired CA set it up so that both jobs use the same tape media when it was time for data migration. I had to reinstall CA recently but now I can not get both jobs to use the same tape media. I have append to media selected on both jobs. I was hoping to get some direction.

Migration for one has to start after the first has finished, otherwise it is forced to use a second tape.

Ok. I currently have the migration set to start 5 min. after the FSD backup. I will trty setting it to right after the backup finishes. Thanks

I've not tried it but I guess it should work. There is a command line utility ca_backup used to run jobs. Perhaps it would work to have job #1 configured to run a Post command with ca_backup to run job #2.

It is easier to just change the scheduling for the job, but if you like to dig in and learn it might be a better fit for what you need.

Thanks for the info but not sure what you mean. Is there a way of configuring the 2nd job to run right after the 1st job? I have them hours apart because I do not know how long the 1st takes especially on full backups. The times vary.

Job 1 is modified with a Post command, found under Global Options, the Post command is ca_backup ...
the rest would be the parameters to run the 2nd job.

The "dig in and learn" part comes in on going through the internal help file for ca_backup to see how to use it.

Job Scheduler Wizard can also be used if command box is not your thing. Just select ca_backup and click Help.
