Does anyone use more than one Spec Set for FRx Financial Reporting? I have all my reports in one specification set and was wondering what the different reasons might be or advantages/disadvantages of using different ones.

ie. Old reports, prior years, one-time, different companies, etc???

Thanks!
Barb E.

We use a different spec set for each company, but they are all located in the same file. This allows each company in FRx to only see their own rows, columns etc., but saved in the same file.

If all your companies have the same account format, there is no real reason to have separate spec sets.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of ways to shorten the list of reports since there are about a dozen companies and various reports for each plus annual reports, consolidated ones, budgets, and custom for certain years, etc.

Thanks!

we have several companies that have different account formats (set up LONG before I got here by a highly paid consultant/partner). The other specification sets help out with that one so that a consolodated report of ALL companies is less painful (needed after the consultant implemented stuff - sigh).

BUT - running parts of the consoldated reports we were able to shorten our report list pretty hard (deleting some of the old reports was a bear - so I 'got' the password to the database and deleted rows and columns there - if u need it let me know).

Hey I would love that password. However, there is a way around it-you can export the spec set to a .tdb file and open that up in Access and re-import it as a new spec set. I haven't got it to work yet though - I need to do more testing.

I think I will keep some old reports in a separate spec set. Our companies all have the same GL structure and accounts, but some of the smaller companies were amalgamated into a larger one, so those reports aren't needed monthly, but may be in the future for audit purposes.

Thanks!
