Does anyone use FRX Launcher?

I'm trying to maximize the use of our FRX user licenses and would like to have some users print from FRX Launcher.

This does not seem to work well with FRX security though. It does not recognise groups and in a multi-company environment (which we are) it seems as if a catalogue will have to be saved for each report?

Does anyone else have these problems?

Have you tried it without using security. We do not use security in FRX, we deploy Launcher through Citrix and give access through that. We have no problems.

Thanks for responding.

No I have not tried it with security. If I turn off security will I have to redo setup options (i.e. users, groups etc.) if I want to turn it back on?

In FRX --> Admin --> Orginazation maximum users is 4.

Our registration info from Customer Source lists the following licenses:
FRX Drilldown Viewer - 8 users
FRX Report Server - 1 user
FRX Launcher - 2 users
FRX Professional - 4 users
FRX Web - 10 users

I guess I just want to see if I will get an additional 2 licenses (up to 6 instead of 4) by using launcher along with the Professional.

My users need to change report parameters on the catalogue whenever they print reports.

Any other ideas?

Are your users set up with access to the companies in Great Plains?

Thanks!

Yes users are setup in groups and which have the necessary access to companies, catalogues etc. FRX Professional works fine with the security for all users.

It is the Launcher, which I am now looking at and realising the difficulties with security.

In my scenario I have 21 GP databases accessed by different users, some users may have access to only 1 DB others to multiple DB's.

The same catalogues are currently used for printing for all DB's, users just change to the company that they need.

Eg. I am in a group that has access to all DB's, all catalogues etc. This works fine with FRX Professional. Yet when I use FRX Launcher and I don't even see the companies that I have access to.

If I give the user access to the specific DB (even though the group already has access) I can now see the DB. The next problem though is that, I only see the catalogues that were saved with this DB and that the specific user has access to (remember the group that the user has access to already has access to all catalogues, rows, col, trees).

Does this mean that I have to assign individual users (no Groups) to everything when using Launcher and create a catalaogue for each company for each report? Tell me this is not so.

A report is saved with the company that is selected in the Catalog. In Report Launcher, you will see only the companies that have reports saved with their company code.

We have about the same number of company db's as you and have saved separate reports for each company.

You can use the Clone feature rather than recreating them all.

Try a few first to see how it works and make sure they show up in Report Launcher.

Thanks!
