Hello,
The business I work for maintains hundreds of documents that all have links in them linking to various other documents on our file server. A while back, we had some issues with Excel breaking the hyperlinks, but we fixed that (or so we thought) by using the Hyperlink() function directly instead of using the "insert hyperlink" functionality. This seemed to resolve the problem for a long time, but all of a sudden, we are having issues again. Some of the links created with the Hyperlink() function are no longer working, but only on some computers. I have verified network connectivity and that the path to the file is still accurate, all of that checks out on the computers the links don't work on. However, you can open that same file on another computer and the link will work fine. Also, you can literally copy and paste the full text of the hyperlink function from the broken cell to another cell in the same sheet and it will work perfectly fine on the broken link computer.
The error message being reported when clicking the broken links is this: "The address of this site is not valid. Check the address and try again."
Points worth clarifying / reiterating:
* All of these documents are on our server, none of them are on local computers.
* Network connectivity has been verified as fine.
* The URLs in the Hyperlink functions have been verified as fine.
* Only some of the links in any particular document are broken, not all of them.
I have also tried changing the values for the options "Save External Link Values", "Update Links To Other Documents", and "Update Links on Save" and none of them make any difference.
I am at my wits end here trying to figure out what is going on. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions at all? Thank you so much for your time. Let me know if I need to provide any more information.
