Jacks Back!
When I go to>>> Start >>> My Computer, the right side of the screen is blank, and eventually it reads: "Not Responding". At that point, I must reboot.
Strangly, it does not do it when I go to: "My Documents", "My Pictures" or "My Music".
So after I reboot, everything is fine for awhile contingent on how much opening and closing is going on, but I access my files frequently and this is a pain in the asphalt!
As my units are under warranty from HP, I spoke to there so called "second level techs" many times about this and the best they could offer was to right click start and go to "Explore" instead of "My Computer". Fine, but it does it there to!

Your Assitance Appreciated!

819017 - Long Delay Before Files Appear in My Computer in Windows XP

Some general things to try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Explorer.

Try Safe Mode (Do you have this problem in Safe Mode?).

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

HOW TO: Verify Unsigned Device Drivers in Windows XP

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
