Being a newbie to Dreamweaver, I'd like to know what are the main tasks that can be done in Dreamweaver but not in MS Frontpage at all. (eg. I understand that Dreamweaver can convert layers into table and vice versa. While this feature is not available in Frontpage, I can still put everything in the right place as long as I get the table defined correctly. So it's not as straightforward, but not impossible, to do in FP.)

Are there reasons to steer clear of Frontpage in favour of Dreamweaver even if I don't make use of the Frontpage extension features? (Apart from the fact that FP is considered as a lightweight when compared to DW?)

Hello achau!

You may do absolutely everyhing even using Notepad...
I LOVE working with DW and almost hate working with FP...
And I think that the main issue is not what they can or cannot do (we know that even Notepad does a lot) but how they do it for you!

Here is the link to DreamWeaver forum, ask people there:

Good Luck!

Dreamweaver can make templates that can update aspects of all your internal pages at the same time. This is an invaluable labor saver for a large site.

bah! i have DW instaled on my comp but don't use it. way to flashey, with all its gagets. i use 1st page 200(hardcore mode), its like suped up note pad. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him won't die but have everlasting life - Jesus - John 3:16 -

Harrah! for 1st Page. Very good tool. Have to know your code though. Like defrex said, its like Notepad on steroids.
