Frontpage file download

What do I need to create a document download page for my Intranet site. I think that FTP will have to be used, and as I'm new to frontpage and web developement, if anyone can point me in the right direction to any helpful sites, articles that would be great.

Basically you just need to FTP the documents to your site and create a link to them on your web page. For an example, here's the download page for my church's newsletter which is published as PDF files. Documents are in a directory and the download page is just an HTML page with standard HTML links to the documents.
