You might have run into this exact problem when trying to save an aspx page to a sharepoint website. The error is:
"An error occurred accessing your Windows Sharepoint Services site files. Authors - if authoring against a Web server, please contact the Webmaster for this server's web site. WebMasters - please see the server's application event log for more details."
I have seen many posts referring to this error with no real resolution beside removing Windows SP1 from the web server. Removing SP1 is not recommended.
There is a workaround from Microsoft that hasn't been published yet because it is not all documented. Here is what you do. Too simple to believe it!
Open your Internet Explorer. Select Tools > Internet Options > Advanced, and unselect all "HTTP 1.1 settings".
Then under the tab "General" of the Internet Options, clear all tempory internet files. Delete the Cookies. Delete Files, but make sure to select "Delete all offline content". Clear History.
Next, close and restart Frontpage. You should now be able to save aspx pages to your Sharepoint server without getting any error.
