Hello All, I am very very new to FP2002, I have had only one class thus far, I am taking another on on the 27th of July. I have lear most of the basic, form, tables, texboxes, frames, etc.

Since I am so new to this I may not know how to ask the approriate question.
1. Do I need a domain name or a server to make my pages work as I need them to? Example I have a page with UserId and Password. After I enter the password I want to click on the submit button and go the next opening page.

Can this be done in FP2002 or do I need an hosting service?

Thanks for your response, and remeber I am FP2002 challenged

Hi BLB,

Well, there are certain components such as the FrontPage form and Hit Counter to name a couple which rely on the FPSE(FrontPage Server Extension).

In addition, the form relies on publishing with FrontPage to http location.

If you we're to install IIS and the extensions, you could get them to work on your PC.

If you just want a place to practice, you could sign up for a free site with
They offer the extensions for free sites.

If you opted for this, you could publish to so you wouldn't need a domain to publish to the internet. In this case, you would be publishing to a sub domain.

If you really want a domain, you could get one for as little as $8.95 per year from
Once you had your domain, you could get quality FrontPage hosting for as little as $4.95 per month

Hope I have been of some help,
Micheal

Hey Michael, I placed IIS and the extensions, on my computer but I don't know how to make it workm. I guess it take some kind of configuring.

So I think I will just do the free site for practice

Thanks again for your help.
