I have an ASROCK K7S41GX board, and want to enable front USB, but the connectors on my case aren't labelled the same as the pinout in the board manual, except for Ground, and there are only 8 connectors, not 9:

I have:
1.D+,1.D-, 2.D+, 2.D-, 1.VCC, 2.VCC, 1.Ground , 2.Ground

The board has:
USB_PWR,USB_PWR, P+5, P-5, P+4, P-4, GND, GND, DUMMY1

Can anyone tell me which should be connected to which pin - I don't want to fry the board !. I assume the dummy doesn't matter.

The pins should go on your MOBO like this

2 [VCC] [D-] [D+] [GRD] [NA]
1 [VCC] [D-] [D+] [GRD] [*]

* pay attention to this pin it should not be there.

good luck

In the US (don't see why it would not be global but ya never know) the USB connectors' colors, in order, are Red, White, Green, Black (earth or ground)

Red: + 5V / Voltage + / VCC
White (sometimes yellow): D - / Data - / USB -
Green: D + / Data + / USB +
Black: GND / Voltage - / Ground
Black: S-GND / Over Current / Shielding

The S-GND wire is fatter and can be easily recognized if present.

If you want reassurance use a multimeter to check the resistance between labeled "ground" on your MB w/ system ground.
