Front Panel USB Connection

Look at the manual page 1.5.1. This gives motherboard layout and shows USB56 and USB78. These are 10-pin connectors for front, and extra backplane USB sockets. You can use either for the front.

Note:- Motherboard headers have one pin deliberately missing so that USB cable connector can only be located one way round.

Also, for more detail re USB motherboard headers, check out page 1.28.

Hope that helps you...

The top diagram page 1.29 shows the correct front panel pinout connections.

Two pairs of USB headers USB56 and USB78 use just the one header (either, it doesn't matter)

Top row has five pins
Bottom row four

You have two sets of USB wires 4 marked with a number 1
four marked with the number 2

All the ones together on the top row of pins
All the two's together on the lower set of pins

Top pins left to right
VCC1 Data-1 Data+1 Ground1 (GND) spare pin

Lower pins
VCC2 Data-2 Data+2 Ground2 (GND)

You will notice that the top row has an extra pin, far right, leave empty.

Sometimes there is an extra black shield wire for USB2 compliance, on this board tie out the way.
