I have a P5GC-VM Mobo with front panel audio pins, and a front panel mic and headphone jack on my case. I've gotten everything to work, besides the fact that the mic works only on the left channel.

The motherboard has pins labeled:
AGND (pretty sure its the ground wire)
MIC2_L
MIC2_R
Line out_R
Line out_L

the wires from my case are:
spkout R
spkout L
GND
Return R
Return L
MIC- BIAS
MIC- IN

can someone tell me how to match these up? Thanks in advance.

I found this info:

pin1 mic2 = mic in
pin3 micpwr = micbias
pin5 lineout_r = r-speaker out
pin7 nc
pin9 lineout_l = l-speaker out

pin2 agnd = ground
pin4 +5va
pin6 bline_out_r =return r
pin8 empty no pin
pin10 bline_out_L =return L

Not sure if it applies but it's a start...

I think you'll find most on-board soundcards do not offer stereo facilities on the microphone input socket. This socket usually provides sound input on the tip, dc voltage for powering the microphone on the ring, and earth connection on the body. The same facilities will be reflected in the motherboard headers used for front panel connection. I would suggest that the printed description of your motherboard headers is somewhat confusing.

If you want to use a stereo microphone with your soundcard, then you'll need to find a stereo microphone preamplifier which will raise the signal level sufficiently for it to work into the soundcard's Line input socket. That socket is a two channel input.

Yeah, didn't think "body" sounded right somehow! Couldn't pull the correct term out of my rusty ol' memory box when I wrote in... Cheers Greg!
