Front page

I am relatively new to publishing and creating web sites.
Using front page.i already had an existing index page and a homepage.It was working fine but i wanted to revamp the homepage.I created a new home page in a different program,published it (fine).Checked the operation(good).
When i go to remove the old homepage linking from index.htm page i cant seem to do it.I dont find any parameters set,directing from the index.htm to the old homepage.

Can anyone advise?

Is your new page u wanna use in FrontPage... if so, it needs be named Default.htm
