Hi gang - recently went to fire up my FP/2000 to make some changes to a web, and am getting an error messag when I try to open a published web - words to the effect "Server Error - Unable to open registry key HKLM/..../SERVERS/PORTS/PORT 80" or something like that - it appears that something somewhere hosed a registry entry I need. I am also unable to do a "Detect and Repair", as I get the friendly message "Installer Patch can not be found-please contact your application vendor" etc etc etc..

Anyone have a clue as to what I need to do to get going again? A search of MS KB proved fruitless.. thanks much in advance.

Have you tried the following:

Have you tried the usual repairs
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) In Windows Explorer Find and delete the file CMDUI.PRF
4) Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins
5) Run a Repair / Reinstall on FP & IE
6) Install all Service pack for your OS, IE and MS Office

If none of the above helps, you might want to try reinstalling FrontPage first, if that fails too - uninstall FrontPage, reboot, then reinstall it again.

Have tried #5 - that's where I get the message about a 'patch package' not found - seems to be tied in with M/S Installer? Also, can not uninstall FP from the C/P "Add/Remove Programs" - I get an error message, but don't remember the exact wording at the moment.

Will try your #1 - #3 suggestions when I get home. Thankx.

still having no luck. Can anyone tell me what the correct registry key is to get FP to allow me to work on my sites? The error message I get when I attempt to open a web-based site is:

SERVER ERROR: Error 2 opening registry key "Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\Ports\Port 80"

I'd appreciate any assistance here. Searches of M/S have proven fruitless, and I'm really starting to get bugged.. :)
