I have an application running with several users; The application has an front-end and a back-end.

Some usergroups exchange data with files another wants to exchange via Sharepoint.
Is it possible to only migrate the backend to a sharepoint?
Or do I have to make different versions of the front-end?

If your users have SharePoint logins you can move your backend to SharePoint. However, you do not have referential integrity in SharePoint 2007 or prior. I think some may be coming in SharePoint 2010, but I can't remember for sure.

Also, SharePoint does not currently handle tables with large amounts of data. So, if you have large tables, you would be better off to NOT move the backend to SharePoint.
