From within a webpage, how can I get PROGRAMS to open. 1

I need, from within an HTML page, to provide links that will (as if they were icons on a desktop) open up programs such as:

MS WORD
MS EXCEL
MS ACCESS
MS PROJECT 2000
MS POWERPOINT

... but not within Internet Explorer.

I need to be able to launch the .exe file for the programs and have the actual programs open - on their own.

I also don't want a window or any windows opening up that ask the user to save the file / open the file, etc. I need it to simply launch the programs.

Does anyone have an idea of how I can create links to these PROGRAMS within an HTML page and have them work as I've described.
