Hi All
Why isn’t it easy to do the below?
Current Step:
Installed a single 2K3 SP2 Server as DC with DHCP, AD, WSS3, Exchange 2003 all running happily together for the last 2 years.
Installed WSS3 as standalone server with SSEE on the above server
New Setup:
ESX 2.5.4 Server with the below VM’s
1 X 2K3 with DC, DNS, AD and DHCP
1 X SQL 2005 Server
1 X WSS3 Server (pointing to the SQL server for its database)
1 X Exchange 2003 Server
As above I have now a VM infrastructure with servers that will service all my needs and is ready to go Live BUT------------
The one and only thing that is stopping me from moving to the new system is WSS3, everything else DHCP, DNS, AD, Exchange, is all over and working inside its own Host Network
When I installed WSS3 on the original server I did so with the standalone server option, so it is using a SSEE database. All I want to do is transfer all my SharePoint stuff (the site and databases) from this standalone install to the new system.
I have read lots of posts about copying and pasting the .DBF files and all that but it’s so convoluted it just doesn’t seem to work. I have about 15G of data to go over and the family are used to the SharePoint site so it has to look the same when I move it to the new server! so I need to transfer it without them noticing any difference? Downtime is not a problem.
All I want to do it move the SharePoint site from the old server to the new server that has its own database on the separate SQL 2005 Server.
Can anyone help me out with the steps required to do this?
Thanks for anyones time on this
