I have some clients (notebooks) that need to be turned into Unmanaged clients (they are currently managed).

I have already stopped the services, modified the grc.dat file to remove references to the Parent server and had no luck.

Does anyone have any tips on how to properly modify this file (we are using 8.0.1.825) and have the clients show as unmodified?

Thanks in advance and happy MLK day!

Much appreciated! I should have noted that I tried that as well. I must have done something horribly wrong to the grc.dat file.

I'm going to manually uninstall (for some reason the product will not remove itself) and then reinstall. Part of the problem may be a messed up registry. I'm also running AVG so I am pretty safe re: viruses at the moment.

Again, thanks.

Note that, as the document says, you have to make those changes in addition to uninstalling and reinstalling.

I know. What happened is, I modified my local grc.dat file to remove references to the parent server (after stopping the services). Then I reloaded the services and the program and it was still pointing to the server. I modified again and this time it came up no server, no ability to Live Update, etc. It would then not uninstall or reinstall.

Eventually I used the NoNav tool and then rebooted and reinstalled from the parent server.
